Exclusive Interview with Anil Agrawal
Q1. For Our Readers Can You Tell A Little About Yourself?
Thanks a lot, Yogesh for inviting me to be part of the interview series on your Blog at BloggingScan.com.
My name is Anil Agarwal, and I’m the guy behind BloggersPassion.com a blog dedicated to blogging, SEO and affiliate marketing topics which I’ve been running since 2010.
Apart from BloggersPassion, I own HostingMonks.com a blog dedicated to web hosting resources and one more Blog around blogging topics at MakeBlogging.com
I have 15 plus years of professional experience in the SEO domain. My core expertise is Blogging, SEO and affiliate marketing. From BloggersPassion.com blog only, I’m able to make $10,000 plus money each month for the last two years.
We are standing at an annual revenue of $140,000 and want to take it to $200,000 in the next one year.
Q2. What’s the story behind starting Bloggerspassion?
I took over BloggersPassion.com Blog from an online friend in 2010 who got a Government job and was not interested in continuing this Blog. I bought it for around INR 25,000.
For the first five years, I was doing everything at my end. And once I started making some money from this Blog, I started reinvesting that money to take this Blog to the next level.
Now I have a small team that helps me with all blogging related needs.
Q3. Can you tell Your Blogging Journey So Far?
Sure Yogesh. My blogging journey started as a side project. I got my first job in the SEO domain. To build backlinks for the assigned websites, I started using free blog creation websites like Blogger.com, WordPress.com and Weebly.com, etc.
Later I started using Blogger.com, a free blogging platform to create my own blogs. I was using Blogger.com to implement all of my learnings. At job level, you cannot do everything at your end.
There are lots of restrictions about what you can do and what not at least in the initial stages of your career.
Once my Blog started getting some traffic, I put Google Adsense ads on it to start earning some revenue.
Later I came to know free blogging platforms will not help me in the long run.
So I set up my first Blog around blogging topics in 2008 and had to sell to a UK guy via Flippa.com website for $35,000 in 2011 as I needed some urgent funds.
When I’m not blogging, I spend most of my time with my family members. Due to COVID19, We are spending most of our time while staying at home. And going out only when needed.
I also try to give some time to my health every day. So try to do brisk walking for an hour daily.
For a long time, I was working on BloggersPassion.com blog along with my day job. In 2018, I left my day job to become a full-time blogger.
Nowadays, all of my efforts will take my Blog’s traffic and revenue to the next level.
Q4. what’s your primary revenue source from BloggersPassion?
For the past few years, most of the revenue on BloggersPassion blog was coming from affiliate marketing. As you know with affiliate marketing, we are going to get paid for each sale coming via our affiliate link.
To diversify our revenue sources, we started creating our own products in 2020. We started with eBooks.
So far, we launched three premium eBooks, namely Keyword Research eBook, Affiliate Marketing Blueprint and SEO Playbook.
And the response we are getting from eBooks sales is really motivating.
So far, we made more than $10,000 from eBooks sales only.
We plan to launch premium courses around Blogging, SEO & Affiliate Marketing in the next year to share our expertise about these topics.
Q5. What do you do when you do not work on your Blog?
When I’m not blogging, I spend most of my time with my family members. Due to COVID19, We are spending most of our time while staying at home. And going out only when needed.
I also try to give some time to my health every day. So try to do brisk walking for an hour daily.
Q6. Your Blogging Inspirations.
When I started blogging, I got inspired by Pro Bloggers like Amit Agarwal, Darren Rowse and JohnChow.
Nowadays, I follow bloggers like Brian Dean, Pat Flynn & Neil Patel.
Q7. What is your Strongest Skill In Blogging?
I feel I’m really good at Search Engine Optimization. I have been practising this skill every day for the last 15 years.
I have seen all major algo updates from Google and am still able to survive.
If you look at BloggersPassion traffic trends for the last ten years, it’s growing only.
Q8. Your Quora answers are awesome. Can you tell me any tips for Quora?
Yogesh glad to hear you are finding the efforts I’m putting on Quora platform helpful.
My Quora answers have already got one million-plus view. Your blog readers can follow and vote for my answers from here.
Let me share a couple of tutorials that will help your blog readers pick the right questions on Quora and help them write great answers.
Which questions to reply for maximum traffic on Quora?
How to write great answers on Quora?
Q9. Can you give some tips to amateur bloggers? How new bloggers get some initial traffic at the start of their blogging journey?
To increase your chances of getting traffic to a new blog from Google search, you should do proper keyword research and target long-tail keywords in your contents.
No content should go live on your Blog without keyword research and proper on-page optimization.
You should target those long-tail keywords relevant to your blog niche and where you see blogs or websites with less domain authority ranking in top 10 results on Google search.
Q10. Adsense vs Affiliate? Which one do you select? And why ?
For blogs that talk about blogging related or other digital marketing aspects, affiliate marketing will help you earn more revenue than Adsense. Initially, we were using Adsense ads, and when we gave a try to affiliate marketing, we found affiliate products selling more profitable than Adsense.
So if you have a blog where you talk about certain products relevant to your blog niche, you should definitely give a try to affiliate marketing.
And if you are covering education or informational topics on your Blog, you should go for Adsense type display ad networks.
Q11. Any suggestions for our Blog Bloggingscan
Yogesh, your Blog, has an awesome design and performance-wise as well, it looks great.
Keep doing the great work on your Blog and pay more attention to the contents you are posting on your Blog. It’s the content quality which will ultimately help you in taking your Blog to the next level.
Q12. Please say something to our readers. Most of them are beginner bloggers.
I would suggest your blog readers stay motivated and keep on putting more and more effort on their respective blogs.
It’s going to take some time before they will get a taste of success in terms of traffic and revenue. So keep learning and implement all your learnings on your Blog.
When I’m not blogging, I spend most of my time with my family members. Due to COVID19, We are spending most of our time while staying at home. And going out only when needed.
I also try to give some time to my health every day. So try to do brisk walking for an hour daily.
